Polycom RealPresence Touch
The RealPresence Touch is a desktop video conferencing controller. Interacting with the controller can be conducted from either a seated or standing position. To meet this ergonomic specification, the screen angle appeared to require adjustability. The Big Idea was to provide different screen angles without the use of an adjustable stand.
The RealPresence Touch Controller is the sole interaction point for the video system. With an expertise in consumer technology and controllers, The Pip Tompkin Design team focused on enriching this interaction by making the user experience feel stable, refined, simple and approachable.
The metal exoskeleton makes the product stronger than the average tablet. This is important in shared devices since they receive a little more abuse than the average personal product.
The device can be set to 20 and 60 degrees, causing it to “flip-flop” or “rock and roll.” The lower configuration allows for users to operate the controller from a standing position. The simplicity of the form allows the product to be configured in either orientation without complexity, cost and the fuss of an adjustable stand.
